Welcome
to the Singapore Arboriculture Society (SAS)
Special Announcement!!!

|
Singapore
was polled to be most renowned
for its tree management and landscaping works in a recent
residential survey carried out by Chinese University of Hong
Kong, 2009.
This opinion poll was one of the highlights presented at the
seminar that brought together tree experts, scholars and
seasoned practitioners from Australia, Singapore, Hawaii,
Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong and mainland China to share their views
and experiences on urban tree management.
The seminar was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on
20 June 2009 and opened by its Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor,
Prof. Fung Tung. The topic of “Urban Tree Management in
Singapore and the Upgrading of Arboricultural Work Practices”
was delivered by our president, S.K. Ganesan who was the keynote
speaker which attracted much interests from other regional tree
care agencies and participating government
bodies. Other themes presented includes NPark’s efforts in
promoting urban tree biodiversity.
Being recognised as leaders in tree management and landscaping
acknowledges the dedication and commitment of the many practising arborists in
our tree care industry
and NParks.
Upgrading of
arboriculture standards
and skills
has always been the mainstay of the SAS, however all practising
arborists also have an
opportunity
to exploit the regional diversity around us which is a vast
potential for a new tree-based
landscaping.
With this comes the responsibility of providing dedicated tree
care through technical, academic learning and more importantly, in
sharing of knowledge and experience among the professional tropical arboriculture
community in the SAS. |

The Singapore
Arboriculture Society (SAS) was created in early 2007 in
response to a
growing demand for the formation of a national body to represent
professional and non-professional people involved in Singapore tree care.
The Singapore Arboriculture Society (SAS) is proud to foster its
mission to
promote Singapore as a centre for tropical arboriculture and
urban forestry
through research, technology, and education to enhance the
professional
practice of arboriculture and foster a greater public
awareness of the benefits
of trees.
NEWSFLASH!!!
The Singapore Arboriculture Society (SAS) has
concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International
Society of
Arboriculture (ISA) in Hawaii on 8 August 2007.
